Located by the river’s edge, adjacent to landmark Il Centro Restaurant of the same owners, veteran restaurateurs Andy and Marcia Georges, Mr and Mrs G Riverbar is a welcome addition to the Eagle Street Pier. This stunning new cocktail lounge is the perfect Brisbane city address to meet, mingle and toast the postcard Brisbane River with sweeping views looking out to the Story Bridge. Frameless glass windows open up the rotunda, allowing bar-goers to take in the view while catching the beautiful afternoon breezes.

The interior, which was created by Marcia in collaboration with local design guru Anna Spiro, is decorated in a homely, Mediterranean-inspired style, with blue and white colourway wallpaper and tiling; hand-painted stools; a memory wall of old photos, newspaper clippings and menus in vintage frames; and comfy sofa chairs.

Whether it is for business or pleasure, pop into Mr and Mrs G Riverbar, as it is the perfect place for a casual, relaxed tipple. Il Centro sommelier Shawn Gomez has created a wonderful wine list, and there are plenty of delicious classic and twisted cocktails to choose from, such as The Cosmo – Finlandia Grapefruit, Mandarin Napoleon, Lemoncello, cranberry, lime and sugar or the Pomegranate Caiprioska – Square One cucumber vodka, Pama Pomegranate, lime juice and sugar. If you need something equally delicious to line your stomach, choose from the food menu, which includes plates of quail with hazelnut and tomato relish; grilled tiger prawns with extra virgin olive oil, chilli and garlic; and scallops with black rice, chorizo and red peppers.
